Gainesville, FL native Heather Combs loves to be on stage. Connecting with an audience, baring her soul, sharing stories about life, poking fun at herself – those are the things she thrives upon.
Heather is fiery, funny, intense and not afraid to take risks. Her voice is sweet and then rough, strong and then vulnerable, but always honest and true. She plays guitar with reckless abandon and isn't afraid to show the listener who she really is, or to break a string.
In the past few years alone, Heather has played over 300 shows throughout the United States, recorded and released a critically acclaimed live record, and been named 'Best Band in the Bay Area' by San Francisco Magazine two years in a row.
Heather has opened for Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne, the Go-Go's, Stevie Nicks, John Mellencamp, The Who, Los Lobos, Steve Earle, Joan Jett and Tom Petty just to name a few. She is a force to be reckoned with on stage.
Her latest release, a raw and intense solo acoustic record recorded in her San Francisco home, has sold over 400 copies in the first 3 months at shows alone. The record Strike a Match [Red Room Sessions Vol. I] is a collection of songs about heartbreak, finding love inside yourself and growing up. This is a record long overdue for those who have seen Heather live.
Above all of these things though, Heather has a deep passion for the San Francisco Bay Area and its music scene. For the past year and a half, Heather has taken on hosting 2 Songwriter-in-the-rounds here in the San Francisco Bay Area. She created the series' in an effort to shine a spotlight back on raw live music and songwriting here in San Francisco as well as to bring writers together from all across the United States and beyond. Her in-the-rounds have sold out clubs and created musical moments audiences will hold in their hearts forever. There have been artists from Alaska, Massachusetts, Georgia, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Kansas, Missouri, Texas – the list goes on and on. Bringing musicians together to create unique, real, true, raw musical experiences – for both the musicians AND the audience – is what moves her the most these days. Well, that and knitting. Wait.
